Any ambitions you had of seeing Angel Di Maria, Robin van Persie or Adnan Januzaj suiting up for your club next season should immediately be forgotten. According to the Daily Express (via Goal Transfer Talk), all three are not for sale.
Karim Benzema Following Chicharito to Old Trafford?
Previous rumors linked Di Maria with a potential move to Bayern Munich, assuming the Bavarian giants could meet United's asking price of £59.7 million.
Real Madrid were said to be interested in van Persie's services.
If true, the rumors would serve as a direct contradiction to Louis van Gaal's practices throughout the campaign.
Largely out of favor, both players were subjected to harsh criticisms from the United boss. Di Maria felt the wrath after a poor showing at Anfield in March.
"In the second half, everything is changing because of [Steven Gerrard's] red and then we are not anymore playing like a team," he said hinting at the Argentine's 1v1 preference (via the Independent). "We are running with the ball, unnecessary losses of the ball, so that was not so good."
Following a third consecutive loss in May, van Persie, along with several teammates, received similar treatment.
"I'm missing a striker that scores and any striker who scores," van Gaal said (via the Express). "If it's van Persie, or Falcao, or Wayne Rooney who scores the goal, I'm very happy and the team is very happy."
One saving grace for Di Maria and van Persie's future at Old Trafford is qualification for the Champions League. Depth will be needed to compete on multiple fronts, making both players valuable assets despite a dip in form.
