Tonight at 10:05 p.m. ET, the Detroit Tigers (28-20) and Los Angeles Angels (23-24) take the field at Angel Stadium of Anaheim for the opening meeting of a four-game series.

Detroit has won two straight games as it closes out a seven-match trip through California with this series while Los Angeles has dropped two consecutive contests as it resumes a 10-game homestand.

The Tigers took two out of three games from the Oakland Athletics to start their road trip and are coming in on the heels of a 3-2 victory on Wednesday. The Angels dropped a pair of games in their three-match set with the San Diego Padres, including a 5-4 loss on Wednesday.

Buck Farmer (5-1, 2.98 ERA in Triple A-Toledo) makes his first start of the season for Detroit while Los Angeles counters with C.J. Wilson, who is 2-3 with a 3.36 ERA thus far on the campaign.

Farmer made two fill-in starts for the Tigers last August and had nine outings in Triple-A this season while Wilson will look to bounce back from allowing four runs in each of his last two appearances.

Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera is fourth in the MLB with a .436 on-base percentage and fifth with a 1.027 OPS.

Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes ranks second in the American League in doubles (16) while Rajai Davis is knotted for fourth in stolen bases (11), Anthony Gose is fifth in the AL in batting average (.338) and Joakim Soria is second in the league in saves (15).

Los Angeles outfielder Mike Trout is tied for third in the AL with 35 runs and is batting .297 with 11 homers and 25 RBI this season. Angels closer Huston Street is knotted for third in the league with 14 saves on the campaign.

Detroit enters play in third place in the American League Central, one game behind the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins, who are tied for first place, while Los Angeles sits in third in the AL West, 6.5 games behind the division-leading Houston Astros.
