Dolph Ziggler & Lana Rumors: Will Rusev Injury Impact Love Triangle Storyline? [VIDEO]

Now that Rusev appears to be seriously injured, it has led to a lot of questions pertaining to the love triangle between the Bulgarian Brute, his former valet Lana and Dolph Ziggler.

Ronda Rousey Hints At 'Surprise' Return To The WWE

There is no official word on how serious the injury is to the Super Athlete, but it's never too early to speculate on the future of one of the WWE's biggest storylines, especially with reports coming out that the ailment looked like it could put the Superstar on the shelf for awhile.

Rusev and Lana rose to stardom as a Russian duo in the WWE, but now that the Super Athlete may be forced to miss Elimination Chamber and possibly a lot of time, it remains to be seen what will become of their major breakup storyline.

WWE Reportedly Interested In AJ Styles

The cracks began to form between the Bulgarian Brute and the Ravishing Russian at WrestleMania 31 when a distraction of Lana falling caused Rusev to lose focus and get pinned by John Cena to lose his United States Championship.

Things continued to escalate when Rusev blamed his valet for his loss in a Russian Chain Match to Cena at Extreme Rules and then again when she quit for him during the I Quit match between the two earlier this month at Payback.

The genesis of the breakup was Lana claiming that Rusev was saying he quit in Bulgarian, so she translated for him in English while the mighty Russian denied ever throwing in the towel.

Rusev, who has been pulled from this weekend's live events due to the injury, then sent Lana packing two weeks ago on RAW and she fell into the arms of Ziggler as she planted two kisses on The Showoff, which led to an irate Rusev gleaming with jealousy.

Rusev attempted to apologize to Lana on the WWE's flagship show this week, but after he tried to coax her into admitting she was wrong, she walked out on him for good, seemingly back into the arms of Ziggler.

The Rusev-Ziggler dynamic was set to be an added layer to the Intercontinental Championship Chamber Match at Elimination Chamber this Sunday night at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX, but now it's all up in the air.

The field for the match includes those two Superstars, Sheamus, R-Truth, King Barrett and Ryback.

Rusev was hurt during a match with Ryback at Tuesday's SmackDown tapings this week and the WWE acknowledged he had a leg injury on its website. Fans saw the mighty Russian in a cast and using crutches following the show and there is speculation he could be replaced in the match by Bray Wyatt.

If Rusev is set to miss some significant time, it could ruin the momentum of Lana's face turn as the Diva's dynamic relationship with Rusev was at the forefront of the storyline.

It remains to be seen how the WWE handles it, but if Rusev misses time it's likely that Lana and Ziggler will remain a pair, though the heat of Rusev's angst will be sorely missed from the storyline.
