Adrian Peterson does not want to play for the Minnesota Vikings any longer. The team does not want him to play for anyone else. Neither side seems willing to budge. The ongoing story has dominated the team's offseason and has kept fans wondering what will become of the NFL's best running back.

According to ESPN, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer recently spoke about the subject, and he conveyed that the team is adopting a "their way or the highway" stance with regard to Peterson's future.

"He's not going to play for anybody else," Zimmer said. The remarks constitute the strongest statement that the coach has made to this point about his best player.

Zimmer had maintained all offseason that he thought that Peterson would end up staying on the Vikings' roster, and after the draft came and went without a Peterson trade, he appeared right.

Now, however, AP is skipping Minnesota's OTAs (and costing himself a nice bonus by doing so), and he could be preparing for an indefinite holdout.

Still, Zimmer is sticking with the same message that Peterson will play for Minnesota or no one this year.

"He's missed a lot of OTAs over the course of his career. I'm not worried about it," Zimmer said. "I've got 89 guys out here that I'm coaching to try and get better."

Zimmer last met with Peterson in March, and he indicated that he is unsure about the running back's plans.

"I don't know when he's coming," Zimmer said. "We'll just leave it at that."
