Cheyenne Woods, niece of golfer Tiger Woods, is entering her first year as a professional golfer, and though comparisons to her uncle are inevitable, she's hopeful that she'll be established as a golfing pro and not just for being Tiger Wood's niece.

Woods made her professional debut at the 2012 LPGA Championship and notched her first professional win last August at the SunCoast Ladies Series. Cheyenne is hoping to be taken seriously for her golf game, not just her association with her uncle.

"I'm just a normal person. I just happen to have a big last name," Cheyenne Woods said according to The Guardian.

Woods, 23, from Arizona, gained media attention during junior tournaments and says she is used to the media following her around and doing stories about her because of who her uncle is, but the golfer would like to be respected for her game.

"For me now, the media, it's just like second nature," Woods told The Guardian after saying cameras followed her around a lot when she was younger.

Woods is guaranteed to get a lot of media attention because of who her Uncle is, but Woods, who gives Tiger's father Earl Woods Sr. credit for her embarking on a career in golf, is hopeful that she can turn some heads with her golf game as well.

"I want to be an established player on the LPGA tour, respected as a golfer rather than y'know, Tiger Woods' niece. But I realize it comes with the territory," she said.

Woods hopes to have the same success as a professional that her uncle has had and looks to build on an impressive amateur resume that saw her win 30 tournaments.

Woods' search for success and to emerge from the shadow of her uncle comes with modest expectations as to what the future will hold.

"My whole life I've just tried to go about my own path," she said to The Guardian. "There's really no rush for me to get out there and win 14 majors like Tiger did. I'm happy with my pace and my growth and my own game. I'm excited for my future."
