Colin Kaepernick knows all about the potential pitfalls of social-media posting. That doesn't mean he's immune to it.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback learned another lesson on Tuesday when he used his signature hashtag for 2015 -- #7tormsComing with a picture of the massive flooding in the Houston area, as well as other parts of Texas and Oklahoma on an Instagram post.

Colin Kaepernick's struggles stem from staying in the pocket without pressure?

Kaepernick's hashtag refers to his offseason work and his improved game that he intends to unleash on the NFL in 2015, ESPN reported.

SB Nation added that the post could've been an attempt at a playful but clearly misguided trash-talk statement against the Houston Texans. Kaepernick also used a #Houston hashtag, and SB Nation pointed out that the 49ers and Texans play an exhibition game on Aug. 15 in Houston.

Kaepernick subsequently deleted the photo on Instagram, SB Nation added, but kept his comment up on Twitter. He did make an attempt to apologize but clearly did not realize the extent of his error.

Finally, about two hours later, he issued a much more serious apology to the city of Houston for his insensitive remark.

It's the second big social media misstep this year, although he never apologized for his first.

In February, he tweeted about an offseason workout, in which a random fan made a snide comment about his abs workouts not helping him find open receivers. Kaepernick went off over the post, belittling the author and drawing criticism for not being about to overlook the criticism.

Since that time, Kaepernick had been making fans, thanks to his offseason work giving him much more command in the pocket. But he might want to take a bit of a break from posting anything on social media until the furor over his plan dies down.
