Tom Brady is currently on the wrong end of a four-game suspension over his role in the Deflategate scandal that cropped up during the New England Patriots' march toward last season's Super Bowl title. The Patriots organization has also been handed punishment, which they will not appeal.

Brady, on the other hand, is appealing his suspension, and the appeals process has already seen some interesting twists, as Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that he will personally hear the appeal. The NFL Player's Association requested that Goodell be recused from the hearing, which was a request that the NFL declined.

Now, according to Sports Illustrated, it appears that the appeals process has hit another snag, as the hearing will not happen within the required 10 day period. League rules state that appeals must be heard within 10 days of their filing unless both sides agree to delay the appeal hearing.

Now, the sides are arguing over exactly how the 10-day period is to be interpreted, with the NFL claiming that the appeal hearing date just needs to be set within 10 days instead of having the hearing itself happen.

It also appears that the NFLPA may have "delayed the clock" when they filed the motion to have Goodell removed from the appeal hearing.

So, at least for now, Brady will have to wait a while longer to learn about his fate in the coming season.
