Adrien "The Problem" Broner is scheduled to fight former welterweight titlist Shawn Porter on June 20, while Amir Khan is scheduled to take on ex-junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri this Saturday, both under the Premier Boxing Champions banner. They could have fought one another though, in a much bigger bout.

Both Khan and Broner attended the May 2 super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao and came face-to-face where Khan told Broner "Let's make this fight happen.

"I'm ready, I'll fight you anytime. Listen bro, I will pull out of this next fight against Chris Algieri if you take the fight [with me]. Let's do it. You're not ready for me. You know you're going to get it."

Broner said that he didn't believe Khan actually wants to face him though, and thinks he is taking on Algieri because he is a light hitter and struggled badly against Manny Pacquiao.

A source close to Khan said that Broner's big talk is just bluster, and that he only wanted the fight at a catch weight of 145 pounds, which he's imposed for his fight with Porter.

"Amir is a 147-pound, fully-fledged welterweight now and has no interest in dropping down to face anybody. But Adrien Broner is a fight Amir would love to take at any point and would be very confident of winning, wherever and whenever," the source said. "Obviously Amir is scheduled to face Algieri now and this seems like more talk from Broner. But let's hope it is something that can be done in the future."

Khan's dream fight is a bout vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr., so a matchup with Broner wouldn't have been the worst idea. Khan was previously a frontrunner to fight Mayweather, but was bypassed for Marcos Maidana, who knocked down Broner twice in 2013. Maidana got not one, but two cracks at Mayweather. Khan has won his last two fights at 147 pounds convincingly, however, so moving down might not be in his best interests physically.
