The split between Rusev and Lana has continued to play out on WWE television while Dolph Ziggler's role in the whole thing is starting to become clearer.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, despite the Ravishing Russian's face turn, she attemped to aid the Bulgarian Brute at a WWE live event in New Hampshire this weekend during his Steel Cage Match with United States Champion John Cena.
Per the report, Lana came out and distracted Rusev, leading to him yelling at her and Cena nearly escaping the cage before getting caught by the Super Athlete. Lana contiued to watch the match and later got involved, slamming the cage door in Cena's face.
Following that action, Lana left and the match played out with Cena getting the win.
Lana and Dolph Ziggler weren't together during this round of house shows due to them being on different tours, which likely explains why the WWE used the Ravishing Russian in that fashion.
WWE is teasing that more will be discovered about the relationship between the Diva and The Showoff on this week's Monday NIght RAW as they'll likely be featured together and used as a subplot to the Intercontiental Championship Elimination Chamber Match, which Rusev and Ziggler are both in.
Rusev and Lana had a falling out on RAW last week, which led to the two splitting up and Lana kissing Ziggler twice in the middle of the ring.
The WWE has been building toward a breakup between the two since a distraction from Lana falling caused Rusev to drop the United States Championship to Cena at WrestleMania 31, just one month after the mighty Russian defeated the Cenation leader at Fastlane.
Rusev then blamed Lana for his defeat in a Russian Chain Match against Cena at Extreme Rules last month and again after she quit for him at Payback two weeks ago in Baltimore.
It remains to be seen where this story arc goes from here, but it appears despite the events of his weekend, the split between Rusev and Lana will continue.
