To be the best, you have to beat the best and according to Dan Jenkins, Tiger Woods never did.

The infamous golf journalist doubled down on his criticisms of the former world No. 1. As if a satirical piece in 2014 wasn't enough, Jenkins is now saying Woods never beat anyone worthy of recognition in his 14 majors.

"Incidentally, there's much more talent at the top [and the bottom now] than there was during Tiger's peak years," Jenkins told the Fort Worth Star Telegram. "Tiger beat a lot of nobodies to win most of his majors."

"Yeah, there was Phil [Mickelson] and [Ernie] Els around, in and out, but go back and look who was second to him in those majors and tell me where they are now."

Obviously, with such a stern stance, Jenkins sees no way for Woods to return to prominence.

"I never took Tiger's dominance for granted," he added. "The media loved him because he was golf's only rock star, only dynasty, and people like dynasties in any sport. People also like to see dynasties crash and burn. Every golfer hits a wall eventually. Tiger has hit his, in more ways than one. He's lost his game and putting stroke and his head."

"It happens and I've only seen one player lose it all and come back. That was [Ben] Hogan, who damn near died in the car wreck. He came back and won six more majors. Tiger seems more confused about it than anyone I've ever covered. Maybe that's partly because it came so easy for him in the beginning."

"All this is a roundabout way of saying, no, he won't break Jack's record, and he'll be lucky to win another major."

Woods' first opportunity to prove Jenkins wrong will come on June 18 at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.
