Today at 1:10 p.m. ET, the St. Louis Cardinals (27-13) and New York Mets (23-18) clash at Citi Field in the final meeting of a four-game series live from Queens.

St. Louis has won two out of its last three games as it continues a seven-match road trip while New York has dropped two consecutive contests after a three-game winning streak was snapped and closes out a seven-match homestand it is 3-3 on thus far.

Jaimie Garcia (3-1. 4.12 ERA in 2014) makes his season debut for the Cardinals while 2014 Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom mans the mound for the Mets and is 4-4 with a 3.21 ERA thus far on the campaign.

Garcia makes his first start since June 20, 2014, when he had to undergo surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome while deGrom is coming off of a start where he limited the Milwaukee Brewers to five hits in six innings while having a strong offensive game with three knocks.

New York won Game 1 of this series by a 2-1 margin in walk-off fashion, but St. Louis has roared back in the last two meetings, beating their opponents 10-2 on Tuesday and blanking them 9-0 on Wednesday.

Right fielder Jason Heyward and first baseman Matt Adams each launched their fourth homer of the season for the Cardinals in Wednesday night's game while the Mets were held to just four hits, two which came off the bat of first baseman Lucas Duda.

St. Louis third baseman Matt Carpenter is second in the MLB with 16 doubles while outfielder Matt Holliday is third in the league in on-base percentage (.442) and outfielder Peter Bourjos is knotted for second in triples (3).

New York closer Jeurys Familia is tied for first in the National League with 13 saves while Duda leads the Mets with a .295 batting average, second baseman Daniel Murphy has a team-high 22 RBI and shortstop Wilmer Flores paces the club with six homers.

St. Louis leads the NL Central by 4.5 games over the Chicago Cubs and owns the MLB's best record while New York slipped into second place in the NL East Wednesday night, one game behind the division-leading Washington Nationals.
