Make no mistake: Rory McIlroy is no Tiger Woods.

In a lengthy interview with BBC, the Northern Irishman made that fact abundantly clear. Despite success of his own—11 PGA Tour wins and four Major championships—McIlroy believes he will never come close to eclipsing Woods' achievements.

"The one thing I've learned from Tiger, from getting to know him, is how hard he works," he said "The ones who work the hardest do the best."

"I'll never be able to do for golf what Tiger did," the current world No. 1 added. "He was a phenomenon. He brought so many more people into the game because of his background and how he started on tour."

How Woods started on the tour is certainly not how he's been ending it. Injuries and personal scandal has long plagued the former world No. 1. Personal rehabilitation, however, created a more humble Woods of late—one with an attention to family McIlroy strives to emulate.

"It's about balancing life and he's becoming better at that with kids," McIlroy said. "He's taking being a father very seriously and wants to spend as much time with his kids. Finding that balance between golf and personal life and family is something he's got better at and it's something I'll have to figure out in coming years."

"I'm a very family-orientated person, come from a solid background in terms of my family, my mum and my dad, and it's what I'd want one day with the same family structure."

Unlike Woods, McIlroy will participate in the 2015 Crowne Plaza Invitational on Thursday. The event will be held at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas from May 21-24.
