A Wisconsin woman was asked by security at Miller Park to leave a Brewers game Wednesday for changing the back of her Ryan Braun jersey to "FRAUD."
The woman, Karen Eidem, 37, said security asked her to leave after she papered the letters "F" and "D" over the "B" and "N" in Braun's last name in response to the outfielder accepting a 65-game season-ending ban Monday for violating MLB's drug policy.
''A lot of fans complimented me on the jersey,'' Eidem said to The Associated Press. ''It was all meant in good fun. It wasn't meant to be derogatory.''
Eidem said security approached her and asked her to change the shirt or leave the park for violating the stadium's fan code of conduct
Eidem decided to turn her jersey inside out so she could stay and root for the Brewers. She later looked up the code and saw that it said that clothing in the stands couldn't be offensive.
Eidem wasn't sure why wearing fraud on her back would offend anyone, and apparently the Brewers agreed. The team sent out a statement saying security had no reason to intervene and even offered Eidem another ticket to a game.
''In this case, the fan absolutely should have been able to wear the jersey without any intervention by our staff," the Brewers statement read Thursday. "We welcome the opportunity for fans to express their opinions."
Eidem maintains that she's still a fan of the Brewers, noting she's watched the team since she was a kid and the whole thing was a misunderstanding.
