The Washington Wizards saw their season come to an end against the Atlanta Hawks, but they showed that they may have what it takes to be a major player in the Eastern Conference in the coming years. But they face a bit of uncertainty regarding the future of forward Paul Pierce.
Kevin Love To Stay In Cleveland Following Injury?
Pierce just finished up his 17th NBA season, and the future Hall of Famer is currently taking some time to decide whether or not he wants to return for one last campaign. He showed that he can still be clutch when it counts, but that may not be enough to entice him to endure the grind of another season. Regardless of what his future holds, his impact on the league has been undeniable.
According to Cleveland.com, Pierce's biggest impact may not have even been something he did directly. LeBron James recently spoke out about how playing against Pierce over the years influenced him to improve, which has helped contribute to him being the best player in the league today.
"Obviously if he says he's not quite sure about next year, but he's Double-P man," James said. "I've been competing against him my whole career and our battles that we've had, our differences that we've had. But you know one thing about it, when you face him; you're going to always compete. I wish him the best in whatever he decides to do."
"Obviously he gets a Cliff note or a couple notes in my book as far as guys that helped me get over the hump or kept me where I was at the time," James continued. "I knew I had to become much better individually. He's one of those guys."
