CM Punk and Roman Reigns will likely never cross paths again, but that didn't stop the former Shield member from taking a shot at the "Best in the World."

According to WrestlingInc.com, Reigns took exception to Punk's claims that he was the one who came up with the idea of The Shield during a Wizard World Q&A session over the weekend.

Reigns reportedly spoke about Punk's claims of him being responsible for The Shield and said several hands were involved in putting the trio together and that he, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose made the group into what it became.

Reigns also said that the only thing Punk created was the Pepsi tattoo on his shoulder. Punk also recently came under fire after Hideo Itami took a dig at him for stealing his GTS finishing move.

The Shield made its debut at the 2012 Survivor Series when Punk defended the WWE Championship against John Cena and Ryback in a Triple Threat Match.

The trio made its presence felt after Ryback hit Cena with Shellshocked by triple powerbombing "The Big Guy" through a table, allowing Punk to pin a prone Cena and retain his gold.

Punk walked out on the WWE in January 2014 and then revealed on Colt Cabana's podcast in November that he was annoyed at being "creatively stifled" by the company and constantly being forced to work hurt.

Punk even took aim at WWE doctor Chris Amann, accusing him of brushing aside a concussion he received at the Royal Rumble the night before he quit and of misdiagnosing him on several occasions.

Amann swiftly responded with a lawsuit, which is likely what caused Punk's wife AJ Lee to finally retire from the WWE amid turmoil between her husband and the company.

Regardless of who deserves credit for The Shield, all three members have found success as a trio and now as singles stars.

Reigns main event WrestleMania 31, Rollins walked out of the biggest show of the year as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion after cashing in his briefcase and Ambrose is a rising star.

All three former Shield members will join Randy Orton in a Fatal 4 Way main event this Sunday at Payback live from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Md. with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line.

Punk, meanwhile, has vowed to never return to the WWE and is preparing for his UFC debut later this year.
