Notre Dame Football News: Brian Kelly, Fighting Irish Blocking Everett Golson's Transfer Options? [VIDEO]

Everett Golson announced his intentions to transfer out of South Bend for the 2015 season, his last. However, new reports indicate that the Fighting Irish are not going to let him go quietly.

Rumors Are True: Everett Golson Announces Transfer Plans

As a fifth year graduate student-athlete, Golson is free to transfer almost anywhere in the country and play immediately. That opportunity seems to have proven more palatable for Golson than being forced to compete with rising sophomore Malik Zaire for the starting job.

While Brian Kelly and company are wishing Golson well as he prepares to exit, they're also ensuring that Golson can't come back to haunt them during the season. They're blocking him from transferring to any of the schools on their 2015 regular season schedule, and a handful of Big Ten schools as well.

That most prominently removes the Texas Longhorns from Golson's list of potential destinations—one of his rumored top choices. However, SEC schools (the area Golson is originally from) like LSU, Alabama, and South Carolina remain open to his potential arrival.
