Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals face-off live from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. for Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Round 2 best-of-seven series as part of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

New York looks to win its second straight game when facing elimination to force a Game 7 back at Madison Square Garden while Washington hopes a return home will help it clinch its way into the Eastern Conference Final.

The teams split Game 1 and 2 in New York with the Capitals notching a 2-1 win on a buzzer beater and the Rangers bouncing back with a 3-2 victory in Game 2. The Caps then took both games in their own building with a 1-0 and 2-1 triumph respectively.

The Blueshirts were then just over a minute away from elimination in Game 5, but Chris Kreider scored to tie the game and Ryan McDonagh then found the twine in overtime to give the team a 2-1 overtime win. It marked the 10th time in 10 games this postseason that New York's game was decided by a goal.

Derick Brassard has paced the Rangers with five goals and is tied for the team lead with six points. Derek Stepan (two tallies, four helpers) and Rick Nash (one goal, five assists) each have six points as well.

Alex Ovechkin has guided the Capitals with eight points off of four goals and four assists while Nicklas Backstrom has three markers and four helpers for seven points and rookie Evgeny Kuznetsov is tied for the team lead with four goals.

In the crease, Washington turns to Braden Holtby and he is 6-5 with a 1.51 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage.

New York counters with Henrik Lundqvist in the blue paint and he is 6-4 with a 1.55 GAA and a .942 save percentage.

The Rangers look to force a Game 7 while the Capitals hope to win the series and advance to the Eastern Conference Final when the puck drops tonight at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. as part of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
