Milwauke Brewers trade K-Rod to Baltimore Orioles For Minor Leaguer Nick Delmonico

In the latest move to occur before the July 31 MLB trade deadline, the Milwaukee Brewers have traded Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez to the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday for minor league infielder Nick Delmonico.

After a tough 2012, Rodriguez is a perfect 10-for-10 in save opportunities and has an ERA of 1.09 while striking out 26 in 24.2 innings this season.

Rodriguez, a 31-year-old veteran reliever, has 304 career saves and a lifetime 2.64 ERA. He boasts 904 career strikeouts and a win-loss record of 39-35 over the span of his 12-year career.

Delmonico, 20, has 13 home runs and a batting line of .244/.351/.471 in 262 plate appearances this season with Single-A Frederick in the Carolina League. Reports state that Baltimore (57-43) didn't want to part with their No. 4 prospect, but wanted to shore up its bullpen for the stretch as it sits just 2.5 games out of the American League East division behind Boston and Tampa Bay.

The Brewers on the other hand sit in dead last in the National League central with a 41-57 record, trailing the division-leading St. Louis Cardinals by 19 games.

Rodriguez will be added to Baltimore's 25-man roster on Wednesday. To make room for Rodriguez, the Orioles placed Nolan Reimold (spine surgery) on the 60-day disabled list.

Rodriguez has spent time with the Angels, Mets and Brewers. His most noteworthy season came in 2008 with the Angels when he set an all-time single-season saves record by saving 62 games in 69 opportunities.
