DeVante Parker signed his rookie contract with the Miami Dolphins late Thursday night. The four-year, $10.9 million deal will keep the Louisville product in Miami for the foreseeable future.
The same cannot be said for Rishard Matthews.
The former seventh-round pick took to Twitter to voice his disappointment. "It's funny how people claim to want to do right by you," Matthews wrote. "In the end, it's all just talk."

The nature of the NFL strikes again.
Matthews was a spot receiver and a special-teams contributor during his first three years with the team. His best season came in 2013, where he started five games and finished with 448 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Uncoincidentally, the best performance of his career came that year, posting 11 catches, 120 yards and two touchdowns on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10.
For his career, Matthews boasts just 64 receptions, 734 yards and four touchdowns.
It was productivity he hoped earned him additional playing time in 2015. Instead, it earned him the tag of Miami's No. 5 receiver.
This, however, should come as no surprise.
Last August, the Dolphins seeked a trade for Mathews, citing "tardiness, lack of attention to detail and other issues" as justification (via the Miami Herald). Nothing ever came to fruition.
Fast forward 10 months, Miami doubled down on their approach to the position, coupling Parker with former second-round draft pick Jarvis Landry.
Clearly, the relationship between the Dolphins and Matthews has run its course. Whether Dennis Hickey will be able to find a suitable trade partner is a different story altogether. Being cut from the roster seems the most likely of the two scenarios.
