Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers face-off for Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Round 2 best-of-seven series as part of the Stanley Cup playoffs live from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Washington looks to wrap the series up while New York hopes to avoid elimination and swing the series back to the nation's capital.

The Capitals took Game 1 at MSG with a 2-1 win on a buzzer-beater while the Rangers bounced back in Game 2 with a 3-2 victory. The Caps took both games from the Blueshirts in Washingotn, D.C., including a 1-0 victory in Game 3 and then a 2-1 triumph in Game 4.

Rookie Andre Burakovsky scored two goals to lead Washington to victory in Game 4 while Derick Brassard found the back of the net for New York, but it wasn't enough. Carl Hagelin had a golden opportunity when he was awarded a penalty shot in the third period, but couldn't score.

The Rangers have a tall task ahead of them, but they faced this same 3-1 deficit last year against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round and rallied back to win the series in seven games. New York's last 11 playoff games have been decided by one goal -- an NHL record.

Brassard has a team-best five goals for the Rangers in these playoffs and is tied with Rick Nash (one tally, five markers) for the club lead with six points. Goals have been a a premium for the Blueshirts, but Carl Hagelin and Derek Stepan have each found the twine twice and added two assists for four points.

Alex Ovechkin paces the Capitals with eight points off of four goals and four assists while rookie Evgeni Kuznetsov also has four markers this spring and Nicklas Backstrom has lit the lamp three times and added four helpers for seven points.

Braden Holtby mans the crease for Washington and he is 6-4 in the playoffs with a 1.48 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage.

New York counters with Henrik Lundqvist in the blue paint and he is 5-4 with a 1.64 GAA and a .939 save percentage.
