The Philadelphia Eagles made waves this offseason when they traded star running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills, which has led to all kinds of fallout, including people accusing Chip Kelly of being racist. The move was originally thought to be financially driven, but then the team signed DeMarco Murray to a huge free agent contract.

Aaron Rodgers Dragging Feet On Proposal To Olivia Munn?

Murray was the best running back in the NFL last year. He led the league in rushing yards, and he was near the top in rushing touchdowns. He also endured a near-historic workload, and his durability will be in question going forward. More worrisome, however, is that Murray could be primed for a huge production drop-off.

The not-so-hidden storyline about Murray's tremendous 2014 season was that Dallas boasted the best offensive line in the NFL last season. Murray was the primary beneficiary of that excellence, and he routinely had gaping holes to run through.

Race Driving Chip Kelly's Roster Decisions?

While there is no doubt that Murray is a very talented back, there is also no doubt that the environment last year aided his production. Philadelphia has several question marks along their offensive line, and while Kelly's system helps to mask some deficiencies up front, Murray will still find running lanes harder to come by than last year.

Murray will also recieve drastically fewer carries than last year, as Kelly ran McCoy nearly 80 times fewer than Dallas ran Murray. And that is assuming that Murray stays healthy all year, which he had never done in his career prior to last season.

Philadelphia paid Murray to be an elite running back. However, Murray could run into a lot of the same problems that McCoy did last year, when nearly everyone considered him a disappointment. If the offensive line does not exceed expectations, then the team may end up considering their prize acquistion a bust.
