Nate Robinson To Denver Nuggers? Two Sides Close to Contract [REPORT]

The Denver Nuggets are closing in on a contract with free agent guard Nate Robinson, according to USA Today Sports.

Robinson, who played for the Chicago Bulls last season and filled in admirably in the season long absence of All-Star guard Derrick Rose, is expected to ink a two year deal worth up to $4.03 million with a player option in the second season.

Robinson, who averaged 13.1 points and 4.4 assists in his one season in Chicago, is considered as one of the top free agents remaining on the market. Besides the Nuggets, Robinson was also being courted by the Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks. If the deal is finalized as expected, this would be the sixth team Robinson has played for in his nine NBA seasons.

Drafted by Isiah Thomas and the New York Knicks in 2005, Robinson has also played for the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors. He has averaged 11.5 points over his career, including a personal best of 17.2 in 2008-09 with the Knicks.

The five feet nine inch dynamo is the league’s only three time Slam Dunk Contest winner and is known for his high energy and fearless play. With Rose expected back in the fold this season and Kirk Hinrich signed for another season, the Bulls were effectively priced out in pursuing any hopes they may have of keeping Robinson on the roster.
