Luol Deng Trade Rumors: Chicago Bulls GM Gar Forman Says Deng Not On The Trading Market

The Chicago Bulls are professing their love for All-Star forward Luol Deng, as well as a plan that would have him in a team uniform for at least another season.

“Well, we love Luol,’’ Bulls GM Gar Forman told the Chicago Sun Times after arriving in Las Vegas this week to view Summer League play. “We see Luol as a valuable member of this team moving forward, so the window is open to talk about an extension. We’ve had some conversations. Whether something gets done, I don’t know. But whether it’s this summer or next summer, those are conversations we’ll continue to have.’’

Deng becomes a free agent after the 2013-14 campaign, and despite all the rumors floating to the contrary Forman stressed the Bulls are ecstatic over the prospect of being able to team him with the returning Derrick Rose this upcoming season.

Rose recently deemed himself “100 percent” healthy and ready to return from the torn left anterior cruciate ligament that kept him sidelined all of last season. With a core of Rose, Deng, Joakim Noah and Jimmy Butler, the Bulls are optimistic about being able to overtake the time defending champion Miami Heat.

“I mean our goal has been to bring this group back and I know Deng’s name was floated out there, but we didn’t initiate calls,” said Forman. “We’ve gotten calls on some of our guys, but our goal has been to bring this group back healthy.”
