For those wondering who's next for Bill Goldberg, it won't be anyone in the WWE.

Preview and Rumors For WWE Monday Night RAW

Goldberg told Fox Sports that he plans to return to the squared circle, but it likely won't be with Vince McMahon's promotion, which is the No. 1 organization in the industry.

Goldberg, who said he was "sick and tired" of dealing with promoters, told the affiliate that he intends to return to the ring, but on his own terms and likely not in the WWE realm.

"If I put wrestling boots and wrestling trunks on one last time -- and I'm going to -- it's going to be done by me and me only," Goldberg told the site.

Goldberg, 48, rose to prominence in wrestling with WCW in the late 1990s and he went on a historic 173-0 run through the company before losing The Streak to Kevin Nash, who happened to be in charge of the booking.

"I think when Kevin Nash put himself on the booking committee and then gave me my first loss, that was beginning of the end," Goldberg said. "I knew if we got to that point creatively, where we're asking talent to make decisions, although Kevin is an extremely intelligent guy who can probably book wrestling shows better than anybody else, but it just seemed funny at the time."

Goldberg turned up in the WWE after WCW went under and had a short run there, which ended with an infamous match against the also departing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in 2004.

The wrestling icon was in negotiations for a one-off appearance at WrestleMania XXX last year in New Orleans, but the talks stalled out between Goldberg and Triple H.

Now, it seems Goldberg has no interest in returning to the company and he's not shy about his opinion toward it.

"Anything I did with the WWE was not therapeutic by any stretch of the imagination," he said. "The reality is that nobody's going to tell you that because they have an umbilical cord hooked to Vince McMahon. I, ladies and gentlemen, do not. So, therefore, I can say what I want and not have any repercussions because I don't rely on them for a job."

Despite Sting coming to the WWE for the first time ever and the nWo forming a comeback at WrestleMania 31 last month, Goldberg doesn't seem prepared to follow in their footsteps.

Goldberg did however admit that wrestling gave him notoriety and he'd like to have one final match.

"Though [professional wrestling] would not have been my first choice by any stretch of the imagination, I cannot turn my back on the fact that it made me who I am today in the public eye," he said.
