Brittney Griner is one of the biggest faces of the WNBA, but she found her face on a less desirable spot this week: a mugshot.

Brittney Griner Urges LGBT Fans To Be Themselves

The Phoenix Mercury and former Baylor collegiate star was arrested for assault in Goodyear, Arizona on Wednesday night. She was charged with assault and disorderly conduct. Her fiance, fellow WNBA player (for the Tulsa Shock) Glory Johnson, was also taken into custody.

The two were apparently arguing when a verbal altercation became physical. What topic exactly caused tensions to spike is unknown, but apparently it occurred in the home they share, and in front of multiple houseguests.

“Police reports indicate that Johnson’s sister called Goodyear police Wednesday afternoon to report that Johnson and Griner, who were in the living room throwing things at each other,” the Arizona Republic reported.

Griner was the first pick in the 2013 WNBA draft, following a championship career at Baylor. She's averaged 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game on the pro level, and has been one of the game's most marketable stars and biggest LGBT activists.
