Jameis Winston has had his fair share of scrapes with the law, and everyone knew that they would be a focal point heading into the NFL draft. However, few probably expected that there would be such a controversy over a case that everyone assumed was closed.

Marcus Mariota To Be The Next Blaine Gabbert?

Yet, that appears to be exactly what is happening, as new rumors are emerging all over the place about Winston and his infamous crab leg theft. Jameis tried explaining away the incident by saying that he thought he was being given the crab legs, which the grocery store Publix has refuted. Now, according to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, it looks like something more sinister may have occurred.

One NFL general manager has spoken out and said that he thinks that Florida State knew about the crab leg incident and realized that it could be a potential NCAA violation. So rather than helping Winston get out of trouble, they had him take the fall to keep the university out of it.

Adrian Peterson's Suspension A Blessing In Disguise?

"Our investigators found several Publix employees who corroborated what Winston said," the GM explained. "Winston told this story to our team and I believe others. We were able to determine that he was telling the truth. I won't get into more detail than that.

"Should Winston have taken free food? No, of course not. But college football stars, at every campus in America, get free stuff. They all do. Every single one.

"We feel like Winston was wrong but he's part of an overall college system where this happens daily. My personal opinion is that on this issue, and this issue alone, he was hung out to dry."
