Josh Gordon has become a pretty polarizing figure in the wake of his latest suspension. Some want to portray him as a ne'er-do-well that is always making poor decisions and failing to learn from them. Others view him as a sympathetic figure who just cannot seem to catch a break.

Adrian Peterson's Suspension A Blessing In Disguise?

There is no denying that Gordon has made some poor decisions. He has been suspended for failing drug tests numerous times, and he will miss the entire 2015 season. His career is also in jeopardy. However, his latest suspension was for alcohol, which is legal (Gordon is over 21), and some argue that he should never have been subjected to alcohol testing as part of his drug program. The debate can go on all day, but it will be the Cleveland Browns who suffer.

Other players have spoken out about Gordon and his situation. Some wondered why his teammates did not prevent him from drinking. According to ESPN, it was because they had no idea that he was prohibited from doing so.

Star cornerback Joe Haden opened up about Gordon's suspension, and he made some interesting points.

"Nobody was aware that he couldn't drink," Haden said emphatically Tuesday.

"Listen, everybody is 21 years old," Haden continued. "We're going to Vegas on a vacation. We know we can't do certain things, but we had no idea [Gordon] couldn't have a drink. If I knew he couldn't have a drink, everybody would have tried to ... you know what I'm saying ... it wouldn't have been that. Josh Gordon, he's a grown man and sometimes you got to know what decisions you make."

Haden also added that he did not agree with the drinking ban.

"I didn't think it was fair that he couldn't drink," Haden said. "What was the problem? It is what it is. I didn't have [any] idea that he couldn't drink."

Haden and Gordon still talk, and Haden tries to keep his old teammate's spirits up.

"I keep in touch with him a lot," Haden said. "What we talk about, I just try to keep him positive and make sure he's got his stuff together."
