Rajon Rondo News: Insists He Would Never Play For Miami Heat [VIDEO]

All-Star guard Rajon Rondo will never suit up for World Champion Miami Heat.

Speaking at his summer basketball camp in Kentucky earlier this month, the outspoken Rondo told a throng of young fans he would never play for the Heat, long considered to be one of the Celtics’ most ardent rivals

With longtime mainstays Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett now both in Brooklyn that comes as music to the ears of Boston fans, who are hoping to avoid a complete rebuilding overhaul on the strength of a core of Rondo, Avery Bradley, Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger.

Still rehabbing from the torn ACL that prematurely ended his season last year, Rondo’s agent Bill Duffy told the Boston Herald this week the plan calls for his star client to stage a “100 percent return” by opening night.

“That sounds right,” Duffy told The Herald. “We don’t won’t to put any pressure on him or over-anticipate, but he’s on target.”

And as for all those lingering questions as to if the notoriously stubborn Rondo and the NBA novice Stevens can co-exist, most in Celtics Nation are hopeful those concerns will too soon prove to be much ado about nothing.

Late last week a source close to Rondo told ProBasketballTalk.com, he is looking at the Stevens hiring with a “completely open mind.”

By his own admission, the 27-year-old, seven-year veteran is hard to coach and regularly clashed with recently departed veteran Coach Doc Rivers during their years together.

“It’s not that I’m hard to coach, it’s just that I may challenge what you say,” Rondo told ProBasketballTalk. “I know the game myself; I’m out there playing the game. So I may have saw something different versus what you saw from the sideline. I’m going to be respectable. I’m going to let the coach talk.”
