The spirit of Happy Gilmore lives on in current professional golfers such as Padraig Harrington, Shane Lowry and even Phil Mickelson.

A EuropeanTour.com video presented by the Golf Channel showing several PGA and European Tour players mimicking the stroke of Adam Sandler's title character in the 1996 move, "Happy Gilmore" is going viral.

The movie is about a hockey player - Gilmore - who takes his slap shot stroke to the golf course and hits amazing drives.

According to Yahoo.com, several players at the 2013 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Pro-Am on Wednesday agreed to take part in a "Happy Gilmore" drive contest and have it video recorded. Some of the players were Mickelson, Harrington, Lowry, Paul Casey, Paul Lawrie, Thorbjorn Olesen, Alvaro Quiros and Nicolas Colsaerts.

The players were at the at Castle Stuart's 13th hole in preparation for the tournament, thegolfnews.com reported.

Several players were spot on in their impression of Gilmore.

According to the golfnewsnet.com, Harrington managed to drive the ball 328 yards, the farthest among the participants using "the Gilmore Swing, which is just as likely to break your clubhead off as it is to produce good contact. (I know from personal experience.) Keeping that in mind, Mickelson turned over a right-handed club to keep his set safe from destruction."

Mickelson is left-handed, and his ball dribbled off the tee to the right.

Thegolfnews.net went on to report that Harrington was voted to swing the "happiest" by the European Tour, but added that he has been recorded extensively trying to impersonate Gilmore's delivery.

There was no mention on whether the players tried to mimic Gilmore's fighting style, in which legendary game show host Bob Barker beat him up on the golf course in the movie.
