The first day of the 2015 RBC Heritage came to a close on Thursday, with Matt Every and Graeme McDowell tying for the lead.

Sangmoon Bae is one stroke back, while Kevin Kisner and Scott Langley are tied for fourth and round out the top five. Below is recap of the first day's events (via PGA Tour).

What They're Saying

Matt Every: "Man, my short game was the best it's been in a long time. [I] saved a ton of shots. [I] probably shouldn't have shot 5-under, more like even, but I'll take it. [The Harbour Town] course wasn't playing that easy either, but I got a lot out of my game for sure. It's nice. I felt like I stole one; I probably stole five or six shots today."

Sangmoon Bae: "[I] couldn't play well the last four or five weeks. I hit the ball, like, to the left, or very thin [or] fat. I'm trying to focus [on] my short game and putting, which is really important on this golf course. I'm still working on it, but a little came back."

Kevin Kisner: "I always struggle on the West Coast. A good ol' Southern boy doesn't putt on poa annua too well. I'm getting back to some grass that I like. I started a trend [Thursday] in the right direction. This is probably about where I start playing my best in the previous years. Last year I did okay here, and then got on a run at Charlotte [Wells Fargo Championship] and the Byron Nelson. Hopefully, it's going that way again."

Stats of the Day

Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano had the longest drive at 310 yards, while Every, Langley and McDowell each tied for the most total birdies at six.
