Today at 1:10 p.m. ET, the Kansas City Royals (7-1) and Minnesota Twins (2-6) play the rubber match of a three-game set live from Target Field in Minnesota.

Kansas City closes out a six-game road trip it is 4-1 on thus far while Minnesota continues a six-match homestand after halting a three-game losing streak last time out.

Jason Vargas (1-0, 3.00 ERA) toes the rubber for the Royals while the Twins counter with Tommy Milone and he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA through one start this season.

It's a battle of two left-handers who were both sharp during their opening game of the campaign.

Vargas allowed just two runs over six innings in a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels while Milone pitched 7.2 innings in a victory over the Chicago White Sox last time out.

Vargas owns a 1.29 ERA at Target Field and went 3-0 with a 0.56 ERA against Minnesota last season. Twins first baseman Joe Mauer boasts a .407 average against Vargas in his career.

The Royals won the series-opener 12-3 on Monday, but the Twins were able to bounce-back and hand Kansas City its first loss of the season in a 3-1 decision on Wednesday.

Oswaldo Arcia blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to propel Minnesota while Brian Dozier picked up his third RBI of the season.

Left fielder Alex Gordon, who is hitting just .150 on the season, drove in the lone run for Kansas City, and may sit this afternoon out. Ned Yost may, however, opt to leave Gordon in the lineup since he has a .375 career average against Milone.
