In an effort to have the best training camp of his career, Manny Pacquiao has been closing the door on throngs of fans when it comes time to spar. This is at the request of trainer Freddie Roach, who said he’s noticed a clear increase in Pacquiao’s focus without the distractions of onlookers.

"I care about what we're doing and to be honest, I wish I'd done this a long time ago and taken more control [over who gets into the gym when Pacquiao spars]. It's so much better it's not even funny. He's concentrating so much more on what we have to do and understanding the plan,” Roach said.

Roach also said that he’s not concerned about Floyd Mayweather Jr. being open about their workouts. "I don't give a [expletive] what they're doing," he said.

Pacquiao’s managed to be very successful with his normal amount of visitors to camp, but the importance of this fight to not only the sport of boxing, but Pacquiao’s status in history, has him treating it differently.

"Manny's always been very open and so forth," Roach said. "But this is such a big fight and getting the game plan right is so important. I felt it's critical we fight the right fight and to tell you the truth, it's been a lot better. Manny's getting a lot of great work in and I think it's been his best camp in a while because of it.”

There have been rumors that Mayweather Jr. has been having some hiccups in his camp against southpaw Zab Judah, which could embolden the left-handed Pacquiao. Mayweather’s been dogged by the perception that he struggles against southpaw fighters, although he has never lost in his entire professional career and has defeated a number of left-handers, including Judah.
