Blake Griffin Denies Being Soft, Invites NBA Critics To Fight Him Away From Court

Blake Griffin says he’s heard all the talk. Now the Los Angeles Clippers star forward is ready to act on it.

In a probing interview, Griffin told ESPN that he’s not worried if he’s labeled soft in league circles and is willing to prove to detractors that he’s not--- even if it means taking the action off the court.

"I've never really worried about being called soft or people thinking I'm soft," Griffin told ESPN.  "If anybody wants to step and take that challenge I'm more than happy -- off the court -- because I don't want to get suspended. It's not something that I dwell on. I've never really had a problem with being soft."

Last month even teammate Chauncey Billups joined the chorus, telling ESPN’s First Take that Griffin might be “too nice” and NBA opponents were starting to take advantage of that part of his makeup.

In between bouts of defending his honor, Griffin also told ESPN he didn’t speak with star guard Chris Paul about-re-signing with the team because he felt the team had already proven its mettle to him based on the season Pacific Division title they won this past season.

Paul ended up inking a five-year, $107 million extension. That, and the signing of Coach Doc Rivers, has Griffin super excited.

"With Doc coming in and bringing his staff and kind of mixing some of the staff we have left over, everybody is really excited, feels the energy, feels the enthusiasm," Griffin said.
