The New York Knicks are suffering through arguably the worst season in franchise history, and the only good that will come of it is that the team will land a high draft pick (possibly number one overall), giving them a chance to draft another potential franchise player to pair with star forward Carmelo Anthony.

Jahlil Okafor Better Than D-Wade And KG?

The addition of a player like Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns could provide a big boost to the team next season, and head coach Derek Fisher thinks that it could prove to be a historic turnaround, according to ESPN. Fisher promised that the team will "turn things around quickly." He was asked if he thought the team could pull off a similar feat to what the Milwaukee Bucks have done this season (going from 15 wins to 38, with four games left to play), and he said he thinks New York can do much better.

"I guess that's possible, but we are not here trying to squeeze in, we are not here trying to go from 15 to 36," said Fisher, whose Knicks currently have 15 wins. "That's just not who we are. So it can turn around quickly. It will turn around quickly."

Rajon Rondo, Jeremy Lin Trading Places This Summer?

"But we don't really have to put a number on it," Fisher continued. "We are 6-21 in games [decided] by six points or less this year. So we lost 21 games on two possessions. So we don't have go from 15 to 36 next year. We can go from 15 to 63 if we really want to. But that is up to us."

Going from 15 to 63 wins would represent a season-to-season increase of 48 wins, which would be the largest in NBA history. The current record is 42, held by the 2007-08 Boston Celtics, who added Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen and won 66 games after winning just 24 the previous season.

While it is certainly easy to look at Fisher's comments and assume that he has been hitting the sauce, the Knicks will end up with a high draft pick, and they could have as much as $30 million to spend in free agency this summer, which would allow them to bring in some big-name players. Playing in the weak Eastern Conference, a drastic turnaround is not out of the question for the franchise.
