Today at 12:35 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Pirates (0-2) and Cincinnati Reds (2-0) close out their season-opening three-game series live from Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh will look to avoid a sweep in the third match of a six-game road trip to begin its schedule while Cincinnati will look to improve to 3-0 before the St. Louis Cardinals come in to close out a six-game home stand to open up the 2015 slate.

A.J. Burnett (8-18, 4.59 ERA through 34 games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2014) takes the ball for the Pirates this afternoon while the Reds counter with Anthony DeSclafani, who went 2-2 in 13 games (five starts) for the Miami Marlins in his first big league action in 2014.

Cincinnati took the first game between these two teams on Monday with a 5-2 Opening Day victory and followed it up with a 5-4 triumph over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Reds third baseman Todd Frazier launched his second homer in as many games on Wednesday with a solo long ball in the first inning while first baseman Joey Votto went 2-for-6 with two RBI.

Frazier has driven in four runs thus far on the season while Votto is a .350 lifetime hitter off of Burnett.

First baseman Pedro Alvarez, catcher Francisco Cervelli, second baseman Neil Walker and Corey Hart (pinch-hitter) each notched their first RBI of the season in the loss for the Pirates on Wednesday.

Cincinnati is hoping to improve in 2015 after finishing 76-86 and in fourth place in the NL Central, missing the playoffs for the first time in three campaigns.

Pittsburgh, meanwhile, hopes to stick around longer in 2015 after finishing 88-74 and in second place for the second consecutive season.

The Bucs clinched their second straight postseason berth, before falling to the eventual World Series champion San Francisco Giants in the NL Wild-Card Game by an 8-0 margin last October.

The Pirates look to avoid a sweep while Cincinnati looks to lay the hammer down when these teams finish their season-opening three-game set live this afternoon from Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
