Roberto Di Matteo praised Oscar after the Brazilian playmaker scored two goals in Chelsea's 2-2 tie with Juventus in the Champions League.

Oscar scored two from long-range efforts - the first a deflected shot, but the second a strike of pure brilliance - to give the defending champions a two-goal advantage. However, the Italian champions struck back through Arturo Vidal and Fabio Quagliarella to salvage a draw at Stamford Bridge.

"Oscar was perfect tonight," Di Matteo is quoted as saying on UEFA's official website. "We were waiting for the right game to put him in and he did a great job tactically and scored two goals; his second was fantastic.

"He played a big role for us today. He's a big talent. We shouldn't forget he's still a young man, but he's already established with the Brazil national team, which is very difficult. We are very lucky to have him on our team."

Di Matteo was disappointed to have given away a two-goal lead. "It was a very good game and towards the end either side could have won it," the Italian said. "We had chances to get the third goal and close the game out, but they equalised and in the end it was a fair draw.

"We feel a little bit deflated at the moment. We found ourselves in a great position to win the game and only got a draw, but we knew we were playing against a quality side with a lot of good players. We made a couple of mistake for the goals, but they showed good movement and quality finishes."

Oscar, himself, was delighted with his efforts but rued the fact that it did not give Chelsea all three points. "I am very happy with the two goals on my debut but I would have been much happier if the team had managed to win," he said. For the second goal, as soon as I had made the first touch and shot, I knew the ball was going in.

"Every young boy in Brazil has dreams of playing in the Champions League so for me to realise this dream, it makes me very proud. The fans are very good here. I like it at the club and I hope I can keep going and score more goals like this.

"I have a lot of friends in London. The Brazilian players are always together so I am very happy with my life and with the club."
