The Royals won the first game of this series Monday on Opening Day by knocking off the White Sox 10-1.

Right fielder Alex Rios went 3-for-4 in Monday's game for Kansas City and launched a three-run homer while third baseman Mike Moustakas also went yard and shortstop Alcides Escobar scored a trio of runs.

First baseman and reigning AL Rookie of the Year Jose Abreu scored the lone run of the game for Chicago after he hit his first homer of the season in the seventh inning. The team was limited to just five hits in the contest.

The Royals are coming off of a season where they finished 89-73 in 2014 en route to winning the AL wild-card game and toppling the Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles in back-to-back sweeps to get to the World Series for the first time in 29 years. Kansas City dropped the Fall Classic to the San Francisco Giants in seven games.

The White Sox, meanwhile, finished last season with a 73-89 record, placing them in fourth place in the AL Central. It marked Chicago's fifth straight campaign without a postseason berth.

Two AL Central rivals go head-to-head when the White Sox and Royals take the field live tonight from Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
