The Dallas Cowboys waived goodbye to star running back DeMarco Murray during free agency, when last year's leading rusher elected to sign a more lucrative deal with the rival Philadelphia Eagles. It was a move that many applauded for Dallas, as running backs are becoming increasingly devalued in today's NFL.

However, the move also left the team with a hole at the position, and although they signed former Raider Darren McFadden, they still need help at the position. Rumors have abounded that the team may try and trade for Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, but the Vikings may be unwilling to part ways with their superstar.

That still leaves the draft as an option for Dallas, and the team is planning to visit with multiple running backs, according to the Dallas Morning News. Georgia's Todd Gurley is one of at least five running back prospects visiting with Dallas this week.

In addition to Gurley, the team is also meeting with Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon, Indiana's Tevin Coleman, Boise State's Jay Ajayi, and T. J. Yeldon of Alabama.

Even before the season ended, there was speculation that Dallas might let Murray walk and look to the draft for a replacement. The Cowboys pick at the end of the first round, so it is quite possible that there will not be any elite talents left at positions of need for the team, which would leave them free to draft a young back.

The team could also elect to trade down out of the first round and gain some extra draft picks while still having a good shot to land one of the running backs they are targeting.
