Ray Rice has become a pariah in NFL circles ever since he was involved in a domestic violence incident with his then-fiancee (now wife) Janay. Things intially seemed like they would be severe but bearable for the Ravens running back, but once a video was released of Ray knocking Janay unconscious with a vicious hook in an elevator, Rice's whole world collapsed.

RG3's Starting Role To Be Jeopardized By Newborn?

The NFL dropped the hammer on Rice, and the Ravens released him. He was eventually reinstated, but he has become something akin to plutonium, and no team seems willing to go near him, regardless of whether or not they need running back help.

Rice has been trying to redeem himself ever since news of the incident first broke, but so far, the public image of the disgraced back has barely budged. His career is likely over, but he still holds hope that he can play in the league again. According to New York Magazine, Rice still feels guilty about the entire situation, but he also is unhappy with how the incident reflected on the league and its commissioner.

"It's unfortunate that my actions caused collateral damage that I never could have imagined," said Rice. "Unfortunately, even though I was responsible for creating the situation, commissioner Goodell ended up taking quite a hit for it."

While Rice may indeed feel for Goodell, the fact remains that the commissioner thoroughly botched the handling of the entire situation from start to finish. And it is also hard to mention any feelings of guilt or blame without pointing out that if Ray had never struck Janay, none of this would have ever happened.
