The Adrian Peterson saga has overshadowed all of the other headlines that have come out of Minnesota this offseason. The team has wavered on whether or not they would trade or release their star back before declaring that they will keep him even though he has reportedly requested to be traded to another franchise.

Adrian Peterson Trade Not Worth It For Dallas?

One detail that has been overlooked at times is the fact that Peterson still cannot currently participate in any team activities. However, it now appears that Peterson is having a meeting with the league about his reinstatement on Tuesday, according to NFL.com.

Having a definitive answer about Peterson's playing status could accelerate the timeline for any moves that Minnesota wants to make. Even though they have insisted that he will be wearing purple next fall, the team would still be foolish not to listen to offers if teams like Dallas and Arizona come calling.

Cowboys Restructuring Romo's Contract Ahead Of Adrian Peterson Trade?

As for trade suitors, the Cowboys have repeatedly land atop the list of teams most likely to land Peterson, and that cry only got louder after the team restructured the deal of quarterback Tony Romo. The Cowboys lost DeMarco Murray in free agency, and they still have a gaping hole at running back, having only signed the oft-injured Darren McFadden.

For his part, McFadden is trying not to let any noise about a Peterson trade bother him. He apparently never even asked about it before signing with Dallas.

"Coming into it, that wasn't a question I asked," said McFadden. "Once DeMarco Murray was released, I felt like it was an opportunity for me step in there and try to go in and get whatever carries I could. Whether they decide to sign Adrian Peterson wasn't going to make my decision change."

McFadden is also aware that Dallas could draft a back even if they don't trade for AP, and that apparently will not bother him either.

"It wouldn't surprise me at all," he said. "I'm a guy who has been in the league seven or eight years now. You know, a team doesn't just want to put their everything on a guy that is old, or something. I feel like they're going to take a running back and it's not going to be something that changes how I feel about the team or whatever. I'm a competitive guy. That's going to bring out the best in me."
