Today at 4:10 p.m. ET the reigning American League champion Kansas City Royals will open up the season against the Chicago White Sox in a game that can be live streamed online by clicking this link. Jeff Samardzija will toe the rubber for the White Sox, while Yordano Ventura assumes the ace role for the Royals. Sox fans can listen to the radio broadcast on WSCR 670, while Royals fans may do likewise on KCSP 610.

The Royals start 2015 without last year's ace, James Shields, and longtime 1B/DH Billy Butler , but manager Ned Yost believes last year's experience will carry over into this season for a still-young club.

"I just expect for us to go out and compete," Yost said. "I think we're a much more experienced team. It's a very confident team. These guys know that they can produce under the most intense situations, under the brightest spotlights, and that's what playoff and World Series experience does for you. I'm excited to get started."

They open up vs. a White Sox team with dreams of duplicating Kansas City's run. They acquired Samardzija this offseason to bolster the rotation with two aces (Chris Sale is currently on the DL), and added former Royal Melky Cabrera to lengthen the lineup. They also signed Adam LaRoche to provide more pop to a lineup that already has bopper Jose Abreu in the No. 3 hole.

David Robertson was brought in from the Bronx as well to shore up the bullpen, a telltale sign of a team that believes it is ready to contend.

"Everyone is settling in guys are getting used to each other on and off the field and I think we're jelling together as a team," said center fielder Adam Eaton. "Hopefully that translates to wins in April."
