The Braves were also busy Sunday, trading away Melvin Upton and closer Craig Kimbrel to the San Diego Padres for Cameron Maybin, Carlos Quentin and two prospects.

The Marlins locked down outfielders Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich this offseason as it appears the team is committed to rewardimg its young talent and turning things around.

Atlanta finished 79-83 last season and tied for second in the NL East while missing the playoffs for the first time in three seasons. The Braves appear to be rebuilding and getting set for their new stadium to launch in 2017.

Miami, meanwhile, finished with a 77-85 overall mark, good enough for just fourth place in the NL East. The Marlins haven't made the playoffs since they won the World Series in 2003 and have endured five straight losing seasons.

It's an NL East matchup when the Braves and Marlins clash on Opening Day live from Marlins Park in Miami.
