Today at 4:05 p.m. ET, the New York Mets and Washington Nationals go head-to-head at Nationals Park as part of MLB Opening Day 2015 in Washington, D.C.

Bartolo Colon will man the mound for the Mets and he went 15-13 in 2014 with a 4.09 ERA and 151 strikeouts.

The Nationals counter with new additon Max Scherzer, who went 18-5 with the Detroit Tigers last season and fashioned a 3.15 ERA and 252 strikeouts in helping the team to the American League Central Division crown.

New York enters play after finishing 79-83 in 2014, marking the sixth straight losing campaign for the team and the eighth consecutive season it missed the postseason. The Mets are tied with the Astros for the futility mark in the MLB.

Washington won the NL East for the second time in three years in 2014 after notching a 96-66 record. The Nationals lost to the eventual World Series champion San Francisco Giants in four games in the NLDS, marking the second time in three seasons the team clinched the division with over 90 wins and couldn't advance beyond the first round of the playoffs.

Scherzer is part of a deep rotation for Washington that includes Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman and Gio Gonzalez.

New York boats a rotation that includes young guns Matt Harvey, who is returning from Tommy John surgery, and reigning NL Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom.
