The Denver Broncos are working to break in a new coaching staff and offensive scheme while also staying on a path that they hope will see them crowned as Super Bowl champions at the end of the 2015 football season. The team has lost some talent, but they are hoping that other players will step up and fill those voids.

Broncos Planning To Bench Peyton Manning?

Perhaps most importantly, the Broncos still has arguably the greatest quarterback of all time running the offense now that Peyton Manning is back in the fold and has passed his physical. He went with many of the receivers for their annual workouts at Duke University last week, and he will undoubtedly continue working to get everyone on the same page as the offseason progresses.

Denver has discussed ways to keep Manning at the top of his game this year after he noticeably dropped off in the last few weeks of 2014 (although, in fairness, he also had a torn quadriceps). The team has discussed benching Manning for stretches to help him rest and also to give backup Brock Osweiler more experience.

Browns Already Quitting On Johnny Manziel Era?

But is Osweiler even the guy that the team should be worried about getting reps for? He is nearing the end of his rookie deal and has barely played since coming into the league. It is a risky proposition to give a backup an extension without seeing what he can do, and for Denver, that would also effectively entrench Osweiler as the quarterback of the future.

Instead, the team could elect to try and move Osweiler, who is still young and does have a cannon for an arm. The team could get a mid-round pick for him, and then they could use one of their draft picks to draft one of the less-heralded but still-promising quarterback prospects available in the draft, such as Baylor's Bryce Petty.

The quarterback decision is important for Denver. Manning may play beyond 2015, but he probably only has two or three years left at most, and the team would surely like to have a replacement in line well before Manning hangs up his cleats.
