The Denver Broncos are hoping to finally win the Super Bowl title that they have been close to for the past few seasons, and they are starting their offseason work already. Peyton Manning and the wide receivers are heading to Duke University to get in some work so that they can practice timing and route running and all of the other things that an intricate offense requires.

Browns Already Quitting On Johnny Manziel Era?

One receiver that will not be at Duke is star wideout Demaryius Thomas. He is currently working to negotiate a long-term contract with the Broncos after being franchise tagged by the team. Thomas has been the best receiver in the league over the past three seasons, and he is holding out, as that is the only form of leverage he has. But in his absence, another receiver could step up and emerge into a bigger role with the team, according to the Denver Post.

Last year, Denver used its second-round draft pick on wide receiver Cody Latimer, who has all the talent in the world, but he was unable to be much more than a scout team member last year. This season, however, the team will expect him to play a larger role in the offense.

The extra reps that Latimer will get a Duke in Thomas's absence should help him develop a better rapport with Manning and hone the skills that will earn him more playing time.

Last year's complicated offense may have been part of the reason that Latimer did not see the field as much. This year's offense figures to be simpler under Gary Kubiak, and the team will need Latimer to step up now that Julius Thomas is a Jaguar and Wes Welker appears to be leaning toward retirement.

Perhaps the improved chemistry will help Latimer become a favorite target of Manning, which obviously would also make him into a valued fantasy asset.
