The Washington Redskins have gone back and forth about Robert Griffin III and what his future role on the team will be. The closer it gets to the draft, the more it sounds like the team is ready and willing to draft Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota if he is available when Washington goes on the clock with the fifth overall pick.

Regardless of wether or not Washington takes a quarterback high in the draft, the upcoming season will be crucial to RG3's NFL future, according to former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann. The one-time Washington signal caller spoke to CBS DC recently, and he thinks that 2015 is the biggest year of Griffin's life.
"This is the biggest year of Robert Griffin III's life," Theismann said. "Even though he's been designated the starting quarterback, in years past, it was his job no matter what. I think he's going to have to go out and play well. He's going to have to earn the job."

Beyond referencing what the season could mean to RG3 personally and professionally, he also expounded on Washington's quarterback situation in general.
"Jay [Gruden] knows what Colt [McCoy] can do, and I do believe Kirk [Cousins] will get traded sometime between now and the draft. It's just going to happen," Theismann said. "He couldn't get on the field last year when Robert got hurt and Colt got hurt.
"There's about 13 teams out there that can used quarterbacks, and Kirk would be one that can go out there and help somebody."
While the team has not spoken publicly about trading anyone, it does seem likely that a quarterback could be on the move in Washington, particularly if the team does in fact draft Mariota.
Griffin has remained largely silent despite the speculation about his future. He has been working out plenty, although there is obviously more to playing quarterback than being in good physical shape. Still, his work ethic this offseason could be an indicator that he is aware that his future hangs in the balance and that he also believes that this is the biggest year of his career, if not his life.
