Tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET, the Colorado Avalanche (35-29-12, 82 points) and San Jose Sharks (37-30-9, 83 points) take the ice for the second and final meeting this season live from the SAP Center in San Jose.

Colorado has won two of its last three games and opens up a three-match road trip while San Jose has won two of its last three contests and opens up a two-game home stand.

Both teams are trying to keep pace in the wild-card race as the Sharks are seven points back and the Avalanche are eight points behind the Winnipeg Jets (90 points) for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

The first time these two teams met, San Jose defeated Colorado 3-2 in a shootout on Oct. 28.

The Avalanche enter play on the heels of a 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

Jarome Iginla (26 goals, 29 assists) and Gabriel Landeskog (22 markers, 33 helpers) are tied for the team lead with 56 points this season for the Avalanche.

The Sharks come into the game off of a 3-2 shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.

Joe Pavelski has paced San Jose with 67 points off of 36 goals and 31 assists this season while Logan Couture has found the twine 25 times and added 37 assists to rank second on the Sharks with 62 points.

In the crease, San Jose is set to turn to backup Alex Stalock and he is 7-7-2 this season with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.

Colorado is also set to turn to their No. 2 netminder as Reto Berra will man the crease and he is 3-3-1 on the campaign with a 2.97 GAA and a .905 save percentage.
