Conor McGregor, the loudest UFC fighter in the company these days, ramped up promotion of his upcoming title fight vs. Jose Aldo on Tuesday in Dublin, Ireland when he snatched the UFC featherweight title from Aldo and taunted him with it.
McGregor has been doing his best to get under the skin of the stoic champion, but Aldo has remained cool in almost every instance. This time was no different; aside from some pushing and shoving, Aldo reserved his fury for the octagon. He did speak with UFC Brasil about the incident though, and promised revenge when he gets to square off vs. McGregor for real.
"I didn't feel anything," Aldo said. "That's the best he can do because next time he's in front of me, I will beat the sh*t out of his face."
Aldo, at 25-1 in his mixed martial arts career, is one of the top-ranked fighters in the world pound-for-pound. McGregor is one of the most exciting fighters to come around in some time, but he doesn't yet have the resume to stack up to Aldo's.
Instead of stewing over McGregor's constant disrespect, Aldo is going to throw that aggression into his preparation. "Now it's time to go home, train and train," Aldo said. "Brother, I will run through him like a runaway truck. I will smash him."
The Dublin fiasco was far from the first time McGregor got in Aldo's face. In Toronto he grabbed the back of Aldo's neck.
Also after McGregor's last victory over Dennis Siver, he hopped over the cage wall and began screaming in Aldo's face. Aldo was in the audience.
