Famed Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav is boasting about plans to personally stage an $8,000 July 4 fireworks display in Las Vegas.
Flav told TMZ he came across the cache as part of a deal he has with a local fireworks company which pays him and provides him with a “garage full” of such supplies as part of an endorsement deal where he appears in commercials for the company.
Chuck D.’s longtime partner added he hopes things go much smoother than last year when he staged a similar extravaganza that ended with an accidental fire being set in his neighborhood. Cops were called and gave the one-time “Flavor of Love” and “Surreal Life” star a stern dressing down, but did not arrest him.
Flav assured TMZ that tonight will be different because he plans to be much more "responsible" with the fireworks. He added, he will also try to keep it short and sweet so as not to anger any of his unsuspecting neighbors.
“There’s a way you do it with respect,” he told TMZ following last year’s fiasco. “If I don’t follow their rules, I can go to jail… so I’ll be more careful.”
Public Enemy is best known for its 1989 politically-charged anthem “Fight The Power.”
