The Denver Broncos have suffered some key personnel losses this offseason, at least on paper. But the team still has plenty of talent returning, and they may not even miss the departed players because of remaining superstars like DeMarcus Ware, Demaryious Thomas, and Peyton Manning.

Chip Kelly Targeting Former Cowboys Players?

Obviously much of Denver's offseason revolved around Manning and the future of his career and how the team wanted to proceed. But now that Manning is back in the fold, the team wants to iron out the offense under new head coach Gary Kubiak. However, they will be doing it without the aforementioned Thomas, who is one of the best wide receivers in the league.

The Broncos used their franchise tag provision on Thomas, and they still want to work out a long-term deal with him. But they should not expect to see him around until they do, according to ESPN. Thomas has yet to sign his franchise tender, and he will hold out and skip workouts until a long-term deal is in place.

Thomas said Monday that he is "not going to go to Duke" to take part in the annual offseason workouts with Manning and the other receivers. When asked about Denver's offseason program, he said he would "pass on that, too."

"I'll be back in Georgia, trying to get the body right, get the ankle right," Thomas said. "Then when it's time to go, make sure I'm 100 percent ready to go."

Thomas sounds optimistic about the process, saying that he wants things to work out. "I hope so -- my agent is dealing with that right now," Thomas said. "I'm in the loop, but I'm letting Elway and my agent handle that, come up with something."

Denver has worked out long-term deals with the last two players that they have tagged. It is in both sides' best interest to get the deal done as quickly as possible. Thomas has been arguably the best receiver in football for the past three seasons, and losing precious workout time could set the Broncos' offense back this fall.
